My seven year old received his 1st pair of Keen's last year and wore them until he out grew them. They held up to a severe beating and when one of the "laces" finally gave out, he made me promise to get him the exact same shoe (one size larger). They are the only shoes he wears.

This looked like a great shoe, but when we tried on our son he said it was too tight around the sides. Since Keen does not make wide sizes for children we had to return it.

These shoes are no exception to Keens outstanding kids shoes. Looking at the picture I had some concerns about the pockets along the side of the shoe which appeared to be mesh, or some permeable material since we plan on using these during snow season. Upon receiving the shoes my concerns were gone. It is in fact not a mesh, but a solid, thick waterproof fabric. They are solid and sturdy shoes, as are all Keens. No complaints here, the only "warning" I would mention is that the color is a bit darker in person, almost a greenish grey color. We didn't mind that, but if your concern is the color, be aware they are different in person.
